Species and Communities Science and Conservation Division, Department of Parks and Wildlife

The Species and Communities Branch sits within the Nature Conservation Division.

Tasks

  • co-ordinates the conservation of threatened species, ecological communities and wetlands
  • provides policy, strategic, technical and scientific advice on threatened & priority fauna, flora, ecological communities, and wetlands (including priority species and communities)
  • coordinates recovery planning and the listing process for threatened species and ecological communities
  • maintains databases and lists of threatened and priority species and communities
  • operates off-reserve conservation programs (including Roadside Conservation Committee, Land for Wildlife, Nature Conservation Covenants, and Healthy Wetland Habitats).
